A Maine 14-year-old who is known to local law enforcement was arrested for arson in Rangeley.

The name of the male suspect has not been released because he's a juvenile. According to the Maine Department of Public Safety, he was on supervised release for a prior offense at the time of the latest incident.

Rangley Fire and Police Departments requested assistance from the Maine Fire Marshal's Office with a fire investigation at 50 Pleasant Street on Friday, August 15th. The property, owned by an individual from Massachusetts, includes a multi-level home with an attached garage and barn.

Police and fire personnel discovered the structure had been entered and ransacked, with numerous small fires that had been set. All the fires went out on their own, resulting in only minimal damage.

The investigation into the incident identified a 14-year-old male suspect, who was already on supervised release for a prior investigation.

Maine Fire Marshal Believes 14-Year-Old Set a Fire at a Rangeley Apartment Complex

Further inquiry led police to believe the same person was involved in a separate fire at the Saddleback View Apartments on August 9, 2025.

The teen was taken into custody on August 18, 2025, and charged with arson for the Saddleback View Apartments incident. Rangeley Police transported him to the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland.
