State Police say it appears the incident involved a dispute between two families with shared children.
Maine Law Enforcement Investigating a Shooting Among Family Members in Avon
On July 24, 2026, The Franklin County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a man who told them his mother had been shot.
The man said, at the time of the shooting, he was attempting to pick up his children from his ex-wife's family on Jobie Road in the town of Avon.
Officials say the man drove away from the location and eventually stopped near 420 Avon Road where he met rescue and law enforcement personnel.
Maine Police Say Avon Shooting Victim was LifeFlighted to the Hospital
The female victim was transported by LifeFlight to the hospital, where she is being treated for her injuries.
No details have been released about the circumstances of the shooting or who pulled the trigger.
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit is assisting the Franklin County Sheriff's Department with the investigation, which is ongoing.
All parties involved are said to be cooperating.
