A shelter-in-place order from Belfast Police has been lifted and a burglary suspect is in custody.

The man arrested by the police has been identified as Thatcher Jackson, 25, who now faces multiple charges, including:

  • Criminal threatening
  • Burglary
  • Violation of a protection order.

Officials say Thatcher also had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Belfast, Maine Police Arrest a Suspect in an East Side Burglary

The charges stem from an alleged burglary that was reported at approximately 8 am on the city's east side.

The suspect reportedly fled into a wooded area between Swan Lake Avenue and Chickadee Circle.

Belfast Police say witnesses tried to tackle the suspect, but he got away.

Maine State Police assisted the Belfast Police Department in searching the area of Swan Lake Avenue, Patterson Hill, and Kaler Roads.

WABI-TV reports Thatcher was taken into custody in the woods behind the East Side School.

Officials say the incident is believed to have a domestic component.
