
Maine Man And His Mother Arrested After A Standoff With Police
A police standoff in North Berwick Tuesday night ended with the arrests of a man and his mother.
North Berwick Mother and Son Both Face Charges for North Berwick Standoff
Two people were arrested at the resolution of the incident:
- Adian Scott, 23, of North Berwick, is charged with violation of a protection order, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, and creating a police standoff.
- Churi Scott, 45, is charged with creating a police standoff and hindering apprehension or prosecution.
Both suspects eventually exited the residence and were taken into custody by the police.
Police Say Mr. Scott Allegedly Fired Several Shots at North Berwick Officers
The charges stem from an hours-long standoff in frigid temperatures that began when North Berwick Police went to the Shana Lane home to serve Adian with a violation of harassment protection warrant. As the officers approached the house, officials say they allegedly heard Scott fire a weapon at them. Police say several shots were fired.

Maine Law Enforcement Spent More Than 6 Hours Resolving the Standoff
The officers backed off and a perimeter was set up, with multiple law enforcement and rescue agencies responding to aid in the standoff. After roughly six hours of negotiators trying to convince the pair to exit the home, police fired tear gas and pepper spray into the residence. Churi stepped outside soon after and was taken into custody. It took another hour before Adian exited the building and was arrested.
North Berwick Police say no one was hurt in the incident.
