Lincoln, Maine Police Seek Info about Crash that Injured a Family of 4

Lincoln Police are asking for the public's help after a family of four was injured when they were hit by a vehicle.

Mattawamkeag, Maine Man Faces New Charges for Pedestrian Crash in Lincoln

Carl Hartley, 57, of Mattawamkeag, remains incarcerated at the Penobscot County Jail after the incident that happened Saturday afternoon, July 18, 2026.

Lincoln Police say additional charges have been added.

Hartley now faces:

• Aggravated Criminal Operating Under the Influence
• Driving to Endanger
• Reckless Conduct With a Dangerous Weapon
• Unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

Officers at the scene confiscated illegal drugs from Hartley's possession that presumptively tested positive for methamphetamine.

Maine Police Say a Family of 4 Was Hit by a Vehicle as They Walked in Lincoln

The family of four, which includes a 24-year-old woman, 29-year-old man, and two children, ages 5 and 3 months, was hit by a vehicle as they were walking near the intersection of Main Street and West Broadway.

An initial investigation indicated that the vehicle, driven by Hartley, left the roadway after traveling through the intersection, drove onto a sidewalk, and hit the family, pinning the mother underneath.

All four were hospitalized, but the mother suffered injuries serious enough that she was airlifted to the hospital by a LifeFlight helicopter.

Lincoln, Maine Police Ask for Info from the Public About Pedestrian Crash

Now, the Lincoln Police Department is asking for the public's help in their investigation.

They're asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or been traveling behind the suspect just before the crash, or has information that may assist investigators to please get in touch with them.

They say that any information is important, no matter how insignificant it may seem.
