Maine Woman Sentenced to Federal Prison for Firearms Charges

A former Ellsworth woman received her sentence this week for illegally possessing firearms.

Maine Woman Sentenced for Possession of Firearms By a Felon

Karissa Beam, 36, formerly of Ellsworth, was sentenced in a Bangor courtroom this week to three years in federal prison, which will be followed by three years of supervised release.

Beam pleaded guilty on January 8, 2026.

Maine Woman Receives Her Sentence on Firearms Charges

The charges stem from an encounter between Beam and a Hancock County Sheriff's Deputy in August, 2025.

The Deputy approached Beam in an area of Trenton that's known to have a high incidence of drug-related activities.

Former Ellsworth Woman with a Robbery Conviction Sentenced for Possessing Guns

At the time of the encounter, Beam was on probation for a prior robbery conviction.

According to the U.S. Attorney, District of Maine, a search resulted in the seizure of a Taurus handgun and a Glock handgun, both of which she was prohibited from possessing.
