Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey wanted to give residents a way to speak out and report concerns about federal agents' treatment of citizens, including civil rights violations and improper use of force.

So an email address has been set up for people to share information about questionable immigration activities involving Maine residents, including the date and location of the incidents, and the names and contact information of anyone who may have witnessed it.

The email address is:

CitizenReporting.OAG@maine.gov

That information will be used to evaluate the actions the Attorney General's Office may take in response to protect citizens from further mistreatment.

Mainers Can Speak Out About Potential Civil Rights Violations By Federal Agents

The email address will be monitored for documentation of potential violations of the Maine and federal Constitutions, as well as Maine laws such as the Maine Civil Rights Act.

AG Frey does caution, however, that any content sent via that email address may be subject to public dissemination under Maine's Freedom of Access Laws.

Just be advised that the email address is not meant for seeking legal advice, representation, or requesting feedback.
