Police Pursuit from Maine to New Hampshire Ends in Crash and 1 Arrest

A Maine man is facing multiple charges for allegedly hitting a police cruiser during a pursuit that crossed into New Hampshire.

Maine Man Arrested in New Hampshire After a Police Chase

James King, 36, of Limerick, Maine, is charged with:

• Reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon
• Eluding an officer
• Passing a roadblock.

Additional charges are expected.

Maine State Police Cruiser Hit During a Pursuit That Crossed Into New Hampshire

The incident began shortly after midnight on Sunday, July 12, 2026, when a Maine State Police Trooper noticed a suspicious vehicle parked at the Alpha Sports Center in Limerick.

The business was closed, and the driver appeared to be slumped over the wheel.

When the Trooper knocked on the window, the driver woke up and sped out of the parking lot onto Route 5.

A pursuit was initiated, during which King's vehicle allegedly rammed a Maine State Police cruiser.

Maine Driver Crashed in the New Hampshire Woods During Police Pursuit

The chase continued from Limerick, through Newfield, and into Wakefield, New Hampshire, where King's vehicle went off the road and crashed in the woods.

King fled from the scene but was quickly taken into custody.

Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss says King suffered minor injuries and was transported to the Carroll County Jail in New Hampshire.

Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the incident, which remains under investigation.
