With Winter Coming, You Might Want To Avoid These Bangor Hills
With slippery road conditions coming soon, we made a list of the hills to avoid in town if you don't want your car to slide or you don't want to fall down.
Now, these may not compare to big hills like those in Lucerne or Charleston, but here are some hills in Bangor that, unless you're careful, can cause some headaches in slick weather.

Google Hogan Rd meets State St.
Where is it?A steep hill with a sharp corner going right at the river, yep sounds like it could lead to a slippery, scary situation!

Google Park Street
Where is it?They are currently working on the road and have it closed, hopefully they are making it less steep! Probably not... But we would appreciate a few less pot holes!

Google President Streets to Kenduskeag
Where is it?We think the worst is Jefferson St with the road almost meeting Kenduskeag Ave. at a right angle. Congress and Montgomery can be slick in the winter as well.

Google Essex Street to Hancock Street
Where is it?The 2 roads on each side of the Terrace Apartments going to Hancock St. are very challenging to get up after a coating of ice. We think Essex may be a little worse but Boyd St. is no cup of tea in the winter. It should also be noted these have to be some of the roughest roads in the area! HOLE-y POT HOLES!

Google Drummond St and Nelson St
Where is it?Drummond St is a good place to practice car control in slippery conditions. If you can't stop going down Drummond from Ohio St. you are going straight into houses on Nelson St. If you make it on to Nelson be ready for another doozy as this one goes straight down.

Google State St. from Downtown
Where is it?If we had a penny for every time we saw some sorry sap stalled out on this hill, well we would have a lot of pennies. No matter the season or conditions, this hill gives quite a few a hard time going up. This hill was the scene of a very scary accident recently, demonstrating just how bad this hill is!

Google Thomas Hill Rd.
Where is it?The Thomas Hill Standpipe stands high up on a hill overlooking Bangor, so is it any surprise the road to it is extremely steep! James St around the corner is no joke either!

Google 14th Street to Valley Ave.
Where is it?From Ohio St. going down can go quickly if you have no breaks or the roads are icy. If it is slippery forget about stopping and making the left turn towards Kenduskeag Ave.
