To Do in Bangor Saturday? Harness Racing Championship
And they’re off.
Do you know the guy who says that? Yes, you do. Bangor radio/TV Veteran Wayne Harvey is the track announcer at Bangor Raceway.
Maine’s richest day of Harness Racing with $500,000 in purse money. This weekend the top 2- and 3-year-olds will be crowned. It's The Festival of Champions. Maine Horse Racing Sire Stakes Finals.
Yesterday afternoon I dropped by the track to see where Q106.5 was going to set up before the races. Immediately meeting Smokin’ Q’s BBQ. Note. Come hungry. His pulled pork is awesome.
Then Q asked me to run a sandwich down to Drew in the barn. I told him I knew Heath but he was the only one I knew from 2 years ago when we did this event. Q tells me Drew and Heath are brothers. Small world.
Off to the barn for me and immediately not a second step inside I hear “Scott Miller from Middle Musquodoboit Nova Scotia”. Haha. There’s Heath.
It’s that kind of place.
Highly recommended for a fun afternoon this Saturday. Say hi on the way in.
It will be a special day in Harness Racing for Bangor Raceway, and it is a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon. As they say the most exciting 2 minutes in sport. And this weather eventually has to turn more fall-like.
