Search Continues For Missing Thomaston Clammer
UPDATE: The Maine Marine Patrol says a body discovered Monday near Tenants Harbor has been identified as Paul Benner.
The search continues today for a missing Thomaston man who disappeared during Thursday's blizzard.
Maine Marine Patrol officials say they will be using side scan sonar today in the search for Paul Benner. He's been missing since Thursday, when he left from the boat landing at Long Cove to go clamming. Use of the sonar has been hampered over the last few days by the prevalence of ice. Coast Guard officials said last week that a 16-foot skiff, matching the description of Benner's boat, had been found near Long Cove, but it was unmanned.
The above photo was taken by Pilot Steve Ingram as he conducted a search Sunday for Benner. He will be on-scene again today, resuming the effort while officers will be searching the shore in the perimeter of the cove. Also helping today will be the Maine State Police/Marine Patrol Dive Team.
