Maine Officials Identify 2 People Who Died in Trenton Plane Crash
Officials have identified two people who were killed when their plane crashed near the airport in Trenton.
What Do We Know About the People on the Plane?
Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says the pilot has been identified as Michael Leibowitz of Charleston, South Carolina, and his passenger as Christina Chung, 57, of Livingston, New Jersey. Both people died in the crash.
What Happened?
Hancock County dispatchers confirmed that crews were responding to the scene of a plane crash just after noon on Thursday. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that a single-engine Cirrus SR22 plane, with two people onboard, left from Morristown Municipal Airport in New Jersey and crashed near the airport in Trenton, Maine. The plane caught fire upon impact and was destroyed.
The Hancock County Sheriff's Office asked that people respect first responders and allow them to come and go easily, while they responded to the incident.
Why Did the Plane Crash?
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
