Fort Knox will be opening for the season soon. Before the gates open, the park grounds need to be cleaned up.

Volunteers are needed to help get Fort Knox in Prospect ready for the season. It's been a long winter and the grounds of the historic fort need to be tidied up. Folks are needed to rake, sweep and clean up the debris winter left in its wake.

Volunteers should report to the fort visitor center around 10AM Saturday, April 21.  Helpers are asked to bring rakes, shovels, wheel barrels, leaf blowers, tarps and work gloves. All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt, and fort tour.

Park Day is held in conjunction with the Civil War Preservation Trust and the History Channel. The annual event is a nationwide effort to clean up historic sites.

Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Observatory reopens for the season May 1.
