A video of a massive mill fire in Mechanic Falls over the weekend shows the plume of smoke that could be seen for miles.

The old paper mill as most recently been home to an apartment and two businesses, including acting as a warehouse for Maine Cycle, which lost vehicles and parts in the blaze. Several departments responded to the fire on Lewiston Street that was pouring out so much black smoke, it could be seen as far away as Portland.

WGME-TV reports a bystander knew there was an apartment in the back of the building and went to make sure everyone got out. When Rob Vivenzio couldn't rouse anyone by banging on the door, he used a cinder block to break out a window. Inside the apartment, he found the resident sleeping with ear buds, and unaware the building was on fire.

A video on YouTube shows the billowing smoke coming from the building, taken by a drone. Firefighters are still at the scene of the four-alarm fire Monday morning, after they started battling the blaze Sunday afternoon. There are no reports of any injuries.

The State Fire Marshal's Office will now work to determine how the fire started.
