Maine Man Allegedly Assaulted 2 People Before Crashing a Stolen Car

A Maine man is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a woman and the person who came to her rescue, before crashing her vehicle.

Otisfield, Maine, Man Faces Multiple Charges for Alleged Attacks on 2 People

A 45-year-old Otisfield man is facing charges in connection with this incident. At this point, officials have not released his name.

The Oxford County Sheriff's Office says he will likely face the following charges:

• Domestic violence aggravated assault
• Reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon
• Obstructing the report of crime or injury
• Domestic violence terrorizing
• Domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon
• Aggravated assault
• Criminal mischief
• Terrorizing
• Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle
• Criminal OUI

At the time of this writing, the man remained hospitalized.

Maine Man Allegedly Assaulted a Woman and the Good Samaritan Trying to Help Her

Members of several law enforcement agencies were called to a domestic violence situation on Route 121 in Otisfield at approximately 7:45 pm on Tuesday.

Officials say the incident began when the suspect allegedly assaulted a woman with a weapon, lacerating her hand, and then strangled her.

She fled from the house and flagged down a man, who stopped to help her.

The good Samaritan, however, was also allegedly assaulted by the suspect with the same weapon before jumping in his car and escaping.

Maine Man Allegedly Stole a Woman's Car After Assaulting 2 People

At this point, the suspect allegedly stole the woman's car before crashing it nearby.

Officials say the suspect sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries in that crash. He was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

The woman was treated for minor injuries. The good Samaritan was transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials say the man's arrest may be delayed, depending on his hospitalization and medical condition.
