Planet Fitness Is Opening a New Location in Maine

The fitness club chain has announced its intention to open a 14th location in the Pine Tree State.

Planet Fitness is planning to open a new location in Ellsworth at the strip mall that also includes Hannaford and TJ Maxx.

The gym is listed as “coming soon” on the company’s website, with pre-registration open and amenities expected to include cardio and strength equipment, trainer-led group fitness classes, and massage chairs for Black Card Spa members.

A timeline for the new gym’s opening has not been announced, and reports said no Planet Fitness signs were visible at the Ellsworth mall as of Tuesday afternoon.

The location would, again, be the chain’s 14th club in Maine and its easternmost in the United States, joining a franchise that says it has more than 2,900 gyms across six countries.
