The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested a man this week for trafficking in cocaine. Along with the drugs, agents seized cash and firearms.

The arrest was the result of a weeks-long investigation by the Aroostook County Task Force into the distribution of cocaine in the county. The investigation included the undercover purchase of cocaine from a Caribou man.

Monday afternoon, agents searched the man's home on the River Road in Caribou. Seized in that raid was approximately two ounces of cocaine, about $10,000 in cash, three guns, and other evidence consistent with drug trafficking. The street value of the cocaine is $6,000.

Travis Hewitt, age 48, was arrested and charged with Class B, Unlawful Trafficking in Schedule W drugs (cocaine). He was taken to the Caribou Police Department where he later made bail. Hewitt's first court appearance has been scheduled for May 19th in Caribou Supreme Court.

Assisting MDEA was the Aroostook County Sheriff's Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and Caribou Police.
