
Bangor, Maine Man Allegedly Assaulted a Woman in a Wheelchair
A Bangor man is facing multiple charges for allegedly assaulting a woman on the street who was in a wheelchair.
Bangor, Maine, Man arrested for an Incident Involving a Woman in a Wheelchair
Christopher Genge, 45, of Bangor, was arrested on Thursday after an incident on Main Street.
It was just before 10:00 pm when officers were called to the area in front of the Bangor Fire Station to check on the woman's welfare.

Officials say it appeared as if the woman had fallen accidentally until Officer Alex Helton learned from the woman and several witnesses that Genge had allegedly caused her to fall out of the chair.
Officials also learned that Genge had allegedly stolen the victim's hat.
Bangor, Maine, Man Allegedly Resisted Arrest After a Main Street Assault
The officers quickly located Genge in the vicinity, allegedly wearing the stolen hat.
When they tried to speak with Genge, police say he tried to walk away.

Bangor Police Public Engagement Specialist Katy England says Genge allegedly actively resisted being taken into custody after the officers told him he was being placed under arrest.
Other officers arrived to assist, and he was placed in custody.
Bangor, Maine, Man Faces Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting a Woman in a Wheelchair
Genge is charged with:
- Assault
- Theft by unauthorized taking or transfer
- Refusing to submit to arrest or detention
- Disorderly conduct
- Violation of a condition of release.
He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
