As reported earlier this week, Vice President JD Vance was scheduled to speak in Bangor on Thursday at BGR Aviation at Bangor International Airport about the Trump administration’s push to combat fraud nationwide.
The visit came as White House officials say fraud, including alleged identity theft, benefit scams, and broader federal investigations, has impacted people in Maine, with Vance spotlighting the issue across the country and calling for tighter enforcement to recover taxpayer dollars.

Other speakers at Thursday’s remarks included Maine Representative Chad Perkins, who is currently serving his second term representing District 31, along with Steven Robinson, the editor-in-chief of The Maine Wire.
Penobscot County Sheriff Troy Morton, former Maine Governor Paul LePage, and Keith Sonderling, the acting U.S. Secretary of Labor, also spoke during the event.
Vance also pointed to Senator Susan Collins, saying that while he wishes she were more partisan, he appreciates her views and believes she represents Maine well.
He also criticized incumbent Governor Janet Mills, saying that while he is not endorsing any specific candidate at the moment, he believes anyone would be easier to work with than Mills in November’s gubernatorial election.

And there you have it! Vice President JD Vance took aim at reported fraud in our state while promoting the “Protecting Taxpayer Dollars” initiative.
