Established Brewer, Maine Business Going In Behind Hannaford

The property being cleared for construction behind Hannaford in Brewer will be the new home of an established business.

It was surprising when I first noticed the ground being cleared behind Hannaford, on Parkway South, right across the street from the post office.

I started asking around about what was happening in that space, and while I'm not sure what I expected, a new business wasn't it. 

Actually, it's not a new business.

It's just a new location.

Established Brewer, Maine, Business Moving to a New Location Behind Hannaford

According to the City of Brewer, a site plan for Lisbon 196, LLC was approved by the Planning Board in January, 2026.

The 9,373 square-foot, single-story building will be the new home of VIP Tires & Service, which is currently located at 500 Wilson Street.

There will be 10 garage bays in the new building and paved parking with room for 47 vehicles.

Two Brewer, Maine, Auto Parts and Repair Businesses to Part Ways

I asked City of Brewer Planning Director Linda Johns if O'Reilly Auto Parts, which shares the current building with VIP, would be moving with them.

She said it's her understanding that both businesses had outgrown their current situation, so VIP was moving to new digs.

At the same time, O'Reilly would take over the current location on Wilson Street.

While we don't have an opening date for the new VIP Tires and Service, the site plan indicates that the construction is expected to be completed in October.
