Maine SNAP Benefits Will Be Paid for November
Governor Mills announced today that she has directed the Maine Department of Health and Human Services to issue full Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits in November to eligible Maine households.
This after multiple Federal court orders compelled the U.S. Department of Agriculture to release contingency funding for SNAP during the ongoing Federal shutdown.

It's also consistent with new guidance released by the USDA, indicating the agency intends to make full funding for November available to comply with the Federal court order.
Maine SNAP Benefits Will Be Paid Per the Standard Schedule
Maine DHHS will issue full November SNAP benefits to eligible families beginning on November 10 through November 14, which is the state's standard schedule for issuing those benefits.
SNAP applications, renewals, and other updates continue to be accepted and processed by Maine DHHS during the Federal shutdown.
Maine SNAP Recipients Were Told No November Benefits Due to Shutdown
In October, State leaders were informed by the USDA that SNAP benefits would not be distrbuted in November due to the Federal government shutdown.
Nearly 170,000 Maine residents receive SNAP benefits, with the average family of four receiving $572. Nearly 12.5% of the state's population rely on SNAP benefits.
