The Maine moose permit drawing is in Acton this weekend, but that's only part of the planned family fun.

In my house, the moose permit drawing is eagerly anticipated.

My husband's name has never been pulled, so every year is 'his year'...or so he hopes.

We've never attended the festivities surrounding the lottery drawing, but I hope to go someday, because it sounds like a lot of fun.

The moose lottery announcements begin at 1:30 pm, and it's going to take a while to get through them because Maine is awarding 3,705 permits.

If you can't attend the celebration, those winners' names will be available online, starting around 6 pm.

Maine Moose Lottery Drawing Festivities Include Moose Calling

Experienced hunters to talented novices are invited to take part in a moose-calling competition on Saturday afternoon.

Other festivities planned for Saturday and Sunday include a midway with carnival rides, games, and food galore.

A motorcycle rodeo, truck pull, touch-a-truck fair, and a music concert with the PMP Parsonsfield Project are also on the schedule.

And that's just a small sampling of all the fun and activities.

Shrine Hospitals Children's Screening Clinic at Moose Festival

The 2026 Maine State Moose Lottery Permit Drawing is hosted by the York County Shrine Club and the Masons of Southern Maine, who will be holding a Shriners Children's Screening Clinic on Saturday from 10 to 1.
