
Maine 12-year-old Suffers Severe Burns in a Fire Pit Accident
Two Maine juveniles were sent to the hospital as a result of an accident while they were trying to start a fire.
Two Juveniles Were Taken to the Hospital After a Fire Pit Accident in Topsham, Maine
Officials have not released the names of the two juveniles involved in this incident.

Topsham Police Officers responded to a home on Coot Lane at approximately 5:30 pm on March 27, 2026, for a report of a juvenile with severe burn injuries.
Topsham, Maine 12-Year-Old Suffers Severe Burns
When the first responders arrived, they found the 12-year-old boy seated on the front porch. Officials say he had suffered extensive burns to his body.
The juvenile was immediately transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland, but was later transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital.

At the last report, he remained in serious condition.
A second juvenile, who was present at the time of the incident, was transported by a parent to a local hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
That young person was treated and released.
Maine Fire Marshal Says 2 Juveniles Were Hurt When Gasoline Ignited
An investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office indicates the two juveniles were trying to start a fire in a fire pit by using gasoline to accelerate the ignition.
A flash fire reportedly occurred, involving the gas can, and resulting in fuel being spilled onto the injured 12-year-old and igniting.
This incident remains under investigation.
