A former Bangor School Department official was sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty to possessing child pornography.

Alan Kochis, 63, entered the plea on Wednesday, according to a report on WABI.

Kochis was arrested at his Brewer home in August. Police reportedly found hundreds of pornographic images of children on his computer.

Kochis was the school department's business services director for more than 20 years. He resigned just before his arrest. In his capacity as business services director, he worked at Bangor City Hall and did not interact with students.

After his jail term, Kochis also will be required to register as a sex offender for 25 years.
