Southwest Harbor will celebrate its annual Flamingo Festival, starting this Friday, with family fun all weekend.

You know it's going to be a great weekend when it kicks off with a lobster bake on Friday evening. Organizers say the festival is 'decidedly pink,' but those lobsters will be bright red and full of flavor. Saturday's events will include a pancake breakfast, Flamingo parade, and plenty of carnival games and family fun under the tent. And let's not forget the giant water slide, because you can't celebrate Flamingos without water. On Sunday, the day kicks off with a Flamingo 4-miler, called the Tremont Trot, and then things turn decidedly artistic. A craft fair, live music, and art expression event will all lead toward the cocktail party at the Causeway Club Barn.

Proceeds from the weekend will benefit Harbor House MDI, which is a community center for all ages. It offers programs for kids, seniors, and everyone in between, out of a house on Main Street, and a new facility on Herrick Road. Find a complete schedule of events for the Flamingo Festival on the Harbor House MDI website.
