Police say a local man fell asleep behind the wheel before crossing the centerline, causing a crash Monday morning in Mapleton.

The wreck occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Main Street, east of the Pulcifur Road intersection.

Andrew Maynard, 27, of Mapleton was operating a 2008 Ford F-150 when he fell asleep and then crossed the centerline and collided with a 2008 GMC Envoy operated by Valerie Delong, 61, also of Mapleton, police said.

Delong had to be extracated from her vehicle by Mapleton Firefighters. She suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Maynard also suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Neither Delong nor Maynard were transported to the hospital.
