Down East Credit Union Robbery

Bangor Police are investigating a robbery at the Bangor branch of Down East Credit Union.

Sergeant Wade Betters said in a media release that the call came in at 2:40 Wednesday afternoon of a reported robbery at Down East Credit Union on Springer Drive. No one was hurt in the incident and the suspect fled after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect is believed to be a man, and police think he may have left the area in a maroon or similar-colored single cab 4x4 extended bed Chevy Truck. Police were at Petco later in the afternoon for a vehicle that seemed to match the description, but determined that it was not connected to the crime.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Dustin Dow at (207) 947-7384, extension 5737 or via email at dustin.dow@bangormaine.gov. To leave an anonymous tip, call (207) 947-7384, extension #6.

According to management, Down East Credit Union will be open on Thursday, but not until 10 a.m.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
