Maine Police have identified the victims of a brutal attack in Guilford, and elevated the charges against the suspect.

Guilford, Maine Man Faces Charges for a Hammer Attack on Two People

Ryan Carleton, 49, of Guilford, is ordered held without bail.

During his first court appearance on Tuesday, charges against him were elevated to murder and elevated aggravated assault.

Carleton is accused of attacking a couple in Guilford, whose bodies were found in a home on Pine Street in that town.

Maine State Police Identify 2 Victims of a Brutal Hammer and Knife Attack in Guilford

Maine State Police have identified the victims as Brent Doore, 63, and Stephanie Doore, 59.

Mr. Doore passed away from injuries he sustained in the attack, while Ms. Doore remains hospitalized in critical condition.

WABI-TV reports the couple was attacked with a hammer and a knife.

An autopsy on Mr. Doore determined he died of multiple sharp force injuries and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
