A Florida man faces multiple charges for a bizarre journey in a box truck from Old Town to Brewer that included traveling the wrong way on I-95.
Florida Man Faces Charges in Maine for Allegedly Driving Under the Influence
Julio Matos, 36, of Orange City, Florida, is charged with:
- Criminal OUI
- Driving to endanger
- Failure to notify of motor vehicle accident
He was arrested in Bangor after traveling from Old Town, sparking concern among more than a dozen travelers.
Maine Police Arrest Florida Driver in Bangor After Reports of Erratic Driving
Maine State Police say it was approximately 5:32 pm on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, when the Bangor Regional Communications Center began receiving 911 calls about a box truck driving erratically on I-95 in Old Town.
In all, BRCC received 14 calls reporting the truck, which they said drove through the closed weigh station before continuing southbound.

Troopers from the area began trying to locate the vehicle.
Officials say the box truck exited I-95 at Hogan Road in Bangor, and then got back on the interstate traveling north.

The driver crossed the median and began traveling northbound in the southbound lanes before the vehicle corrected itself and ended up circling the Bangor Lowe's parking lot.
Police finally caught up to the truck in the BJ's parking lot and took the driver into custody without incident.
Officials say no injuries were reported.
