Auburn Man Faces Murder Charge After Fatal Fight
An Auburn man is facing a murder charge after fatally stabbing another man during a fight on Wednesday night.
Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says 25-year-old Bryan W. Peabody lives in the apartment house on Hampshire Street and is accused of causing the death of 48-year-old Lawrence Kilkenny of Lewiston. Police were called to the apartment house to a report of a fight and found Kilkenny wounded. Peabody had left the scene. Kilkenny was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. State and Auburn Police say the two men did know each other, prior to the stabbing.
Officials say Peabody was taken to the Auburn Police Department by family members Thursday afternoon, where he was charged with murder. He's currently being held at the Androscoggin County Jail.
