Maine Traffic Stop Nets Nearly 2 lbs of Cocaine, Stolen Gun

A Jefferson man is facing charges after deputies in Augusta seized drugs and guns from his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Maine Man Faces Drug Charges After Augusta Traffic Stop

Allen Glidden, 40, of Jefferson, faces multiple charges:

• Aggravated trafficking of Scheduled drugs
• Unlawful trafficking in Scheduled drugs
• Theft by receiving stolen property

Glidden is being held at the Kennebec County Correction Facility on $25,000 cash bail.

The charges stem from a traffic stop in Augusta on Thursday.

Maine Deputies Seize Drugs and Firearms During an Augusta Traffic Stop

A Kennebec County Sheriff's Deputy stopped a vehicle on Bangor Street at approximately 3:00 am for having an expired license plate.

When the deputies searched the vehicle they found a backpack with drugs and guns inside. A pistol was also found under the back seat.

Officials say one of the guns found in that search had been reported as stolen.

Seized in that search were:

• 771 grams (1.7 pounds) of cocaine HCL
• 25.5 grams of methamphetamine
• Multiple firearms

Glidden was a passenger in the vehicle that was stopped and admitted the drugs and guns were his.
