Maine Police Arrest Ohio Man Reportedly Driving Erratically Before Fleeing Traffic Stop

The charges stem from an incident that began just after 3:00 Monday afternoon when the Bangor Regional Communications Center received a report of a Toyota Tacoma that was operating erratically and weaving in and out of traffic on the northbound side of I-95 in Plymouth.

A Maine State Trooper pulled the vehicle over near mile marker 173 in Hampden but, during the stop, the driver allegedly became argumentative and refused to identify himself.

Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss says the Trooper detected the smell of alcohol and observed an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.

The Trooper also noticed a female passenger with facial injuries.

When the Trooper asked the driver to get out of the vehicle, he refused, and then took off in the vehicle at a high rate of speed.
