Kenyen Smith, 51, of New Haven, Connecticut, was arrested in Bangor on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, just before 5:30 pm.

Bangor Police, working in conjunction with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle driven by Smith.

Drug-Detecting Maine Police K-9 Aids in Arrest of Connecticut Man on Drug Charges

Officials used a drug-detecting K-9, and the dog indicated positively for the presence of scheduled drugs.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of:

• Cocaine
• Crack Cocaine
• Suspected Fentanyl

When the officers went to arrest Smith, Bangor Police say he actively resisted but was ultimately subdued and taken into custody.

He's charged with:

• Trafficking in Schedule W drugs
• Refusal to submit to arrest
• Violation of conditions of release

At the last report, Smith remained incarcerated at the Penobscot County Jail.
