
Maine Police Release Identity of Lewiston Shooting Victim
Maine State Police say a Lisbon man was killed in a shooting outside a Lewiston tavern, earlier this week.
Lisbon, Maine Man Identified as the Victim of a Fatal Shooting in Lewiston
Officials say the deceased has been identified as Travis Hunter, 37, of Lisbon, Maine.
An autopsy at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined Hunter died of a gunshot wound to the chest and the manner of death has been ruled a homicide.
A woman was also injured in this incident.
Police have not released her name.
Maine State Police Say a Man Was Killed and a Woman Injured in a Lewiston Shooting
It was just before 1 am on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, when the Lewiston Police Department received 911 calls about a disturbance, with shots fired, outside the Blue Goose Tavern on Sabattus Street in Lewiston.
Both victims were transported to the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where Travis Hunter was pronounced deceased.
The female victim was treated and later released.
Maine State Police Know Who Shot Two People Outside a Lewiston Tavern
Maine State Police say the adult male responsible for firing the shots has been identified and is cooperating with law enforcement.
His name has not been released.
Officials have not commented on the circumstances of the shooting but say that this is believed to be an isolated incident.
Anyone who has information or who may have been around the Blue Goose at the time of the shooting is asked to call the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit at 207-624-7076.
