Wreaths Across America Opens Park For Medal Of Honor Recipients

The folks at Wreaths Across America are recognizing Medal of Honor recipients with a new remembrance park, that will be dedicated in a public ceremony Saturday.

It's a wonderful idea, hanging replica dog tags with the 3,517 names of Medal of Honor recipients on the branches of trees, where they will stay forever. The 3 acre park is located on the tip land where balsam is harvested to create the wreaths that are placed on veterans' graves at Arlington National Cemetery and at veterans' cemeteries across the country.

The public is invited to a special ceremony and celebration tomorrow at the new Medal of Honor Remembrance Park. Medal of Honor Recipient Colonel Roger Donlon and his wife, Norma, will be there to dedicate the park, as well as family members of others who have received this distinguished recognition for their bravery.

The day starts with a service at Balsam Valley Chapel, starting at 10:15 Saturday morning, followed by the Dedication Ceremony, from 11:30 to 12:30. Folks can access the park by using the WH Gate 4 entrance to the tip land on Route 1 in Jonesboro, and then following the signs for the Chapel.
