Reports of an emergency on a Swiss airliner temporarily closed the runways at Bangor International Airport. They are now reopened.

Bangor, Maine Airport Closes the Runway for an Emergency Landing

BGR posted the closure on its Facebook page. 

A new post on that page announces that the runway has been reopened.

WABI-TV reports fire crews responded to the runway as they awaited the landing of a Swiss Air Airbus A330-300.

Bangor, Maine Airport Takes Precautions for Swiss Flight's Emergency Landing

The flight was en route to John F. Kennedy International Airport when it was diverted to Bangor for a report of smoke in the business class cabin.

That flight landed safely in Bangor, as fire crews waited on the runway.

An investigation of the aircraft by local authorities turned up no evidence of heat or smoke, so the plane was cleared.

No injuries were reported.

Passengers were encouraged to check with their airlines for any potential changes in their travel schedules.

Again, the runway at BGR is now open.
