The world's largest passenger plane made an unexpected landing at Bangor International Airport Monday morning.

Bangor Fire officials said in a post on the department's Facebook page that the Airbus A380 stopped in the Queen City because of a medical emergency. The plane is so huge, firefighters had to use an aerial ladder to get the patient out. According to the Bangor Professional Firefighters' Facebook page, the plane was traveling from Dubai. There was no comment on its destination or the nature of the emergency.

According to an article in the New York Times, the A380 can carry more than 500 passengers, in luxury accommodations that include showers and a bar.
