Ms. Rachel announced Thursday, Sept. 17, that she has pledged $1 million to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, matching Macklemore’s donation to Palestinian aid groups following his removal from Ed Sheeran’s tour over pro-Palestinian remarks.

She said the money will help provide medical and humanitarian assistance to children and called on other wealthy public figures to contribute.

Ms. Rachel has previously used her platform to support children around the world, including raising more than $50,000 for Save the Children’s emergency response efforts in Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

A Save the Children ambassador, she has also spoken publicly about issues affecting children in the United States, including paid family leave and proposed education funding cuts.

Ms. Rachel, whose full name is Rachel Griffin Accurso, was born in Biddeford, raised in Sanford, and attended the University of Southern Maine before earning graduate degrees in music education and early childhood education.

A former preschool music teacher, she creates educational videos featuring songs and interactive lessons designed to support language development in infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
