Arrest warrants have been issued for two men who police say allegedly burglarized a Winter Harbor man's home and killed his dog.

Winter Harbor Police say someone broke into the Rand Lane home last week, burglarized it, stole the homeowner's SUV, and then returned it with heavy damage. It was believed that they also stole the man's dog. Thursday night, the dog's remains were found on a private beach. The dog had been violently killed and then the body was wrapped in garbage bags.

Now, arrest warrants have been issued for 37-year-old Nathan Burke of Hancock and 22-year-old Justin Chipman of Winter Harbor. Anyone who knows their whereabouts is asked to contact the Winter Harbor Police Department.

Police told WABI-TV that the two men are acquainted with the homeowner.
