A player with the University of Maine football team is charged with domestic violence assault.

Bangor Police responded to a disturbance report at around 6 p.m. Wednesday. The alleged victim told officers that 19-year-old Ramon Jefferson had left the home before they called for help.

Jefferson, a New York native, was located nearly two hours later in Old Town and was charged by Old Town Police, with Criminal Mischief and Domestic Violence Assault. WABI-TV reports he's free on bail and expected in court on March 4.

Jefferson is a sophomore who plays the position of running back for the Black Bears.
