University of Maine Police Searching for Suspicious Man in Black
University of Maine police are asking for the public's help identifying a suspicious man in black clothing who's been spotted around campus.
In a post on the department's Facebook page, campus police say they've received reports of a suspicious Caucasian man who's been hanging out near the bike trails and the rec center. There's no word of anyone being hurt, but police say the man, who's possibly intoxicated, has been approaching people and making them feel unsafe. Patrols have been increased in those areas but, so far, the individual hasn't been located.
Now, police are reaching out to the public for help. Anyone who thinks they've seen something suspicious is asked to contact UMPD immediately at (207) 581-4040. In addition, they ask that students and faculty consider installing the new Black Bear Safe app, which can help them contact the police sooner, in emergency situations.
