Two children survived a Livermore Falls house fire that killed one person by leaping from the flames.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says the single family home on Main Street in Livermore Falls was consumed by flames when firefighters arrived shortly after 7:00 Tuesday evening. Two pre-teen children who lived in the home escaped the flames by jumping out a second story window. One of the kids was caught by a firefighter but the other fell to the ground and was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. The name of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of family.

The State Fire Marshall's Office investigators will now work with Livermore Falls firefighters to determine how the fire started.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
