I am a big fan of the Bangor City Forest and The Orono Bog Boardwalk. My wife and I frequent the area in the warmer months so we can get out and get some exercise, but not feel like we have to walk in the middle of the road somewhere. And if you're a fan of the Boardwalk specifically, well there's some good news.

The folks who maintain the Boardwalk will finally be able to complete the restoration of the Boardwalk that's been going on for a few years. Over time, they've been pulling out all the old wooden sections of the walk, and replacing it with weather resistant man-made planks that will last for years and years. You've likely seen similar stuff on new decks and stairs and such.

As of the end of the season last year, there were still 45 sections that needed to be replaced, and according to a Facebook post from the Orono Bog Boardwalk page, construction will finally wrap up this year, and hopefully be open for folks to go out on by May 15.

That area is usually bathed in sunshine, so I imagine that crews are probably already out there putting the finishing touches on it as we speak. So maybe we'll run into each other out there in a few weeks. And hopefully it'll be over 50 degrees by then.
