A teenager is dead following a single-vehicle crash in Hudson on Saturday.

The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office responded to the accident on the Darling Road at 1:00 Saturday afternoon. The vehicle left the roadway and struck several trees before rolling over and landing back on the road. The teenager, who was alone in the vehicle, was ejected during the crash. Lifesaving efforts by citizens and deputies were to no avail and the teen was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the deceased has been withheld, pending notification of family.

The Sheriff's Office was aided by the Hudson Fire Department. Officials continue to investigate the crash, but say speed appears to have been the primary factor.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
