Fielder's Choice Ice Cream just barely opened their doors, when a storage building on their property was destroyed by fire.

The ice cream shop celebrated their grand opening on April 1st, at the old location of Blackbeard's, on the Odlin Road in Bangor. Then on Sunday afternoon, the Bangor Fire Department was called to their location when witnesses at a nearby gas station saw flames coming from a storage building on the Fielder's Choice property. Captain Andrew Emery tells us the structure was fully involved when crews arrived. The building, that housed a bobcat tractor and lawn care implements, is considered a total loss. No injuries were reported.

The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire. Bangor Police say there's reason to believe there was a 'human element' to this fire. Anyone who believes they have information about how the fire started is encouraged to contact Police Detective Jim Burns at 947-7384, extension 5740 or via email at James.Burns@bangormaine.gov. Callers can also utilize option 3, when they call, to leave an anonymous tip.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
