Step Back in Time With This Amazing Wilderness Retreat in Orland
A rustic but stunningly grand retreat on Craig Pond is a hidden gem that seamlessly combines indoor and outdoor living in the Maine woods.
Where Is this House Located?
As I looked through the pictures of this amazing home at 135 Hartview Circle in Orland, I was reminded of the summer my family toured the Roosevelt home on Campobello Island. This incredible home harkens back to the days of grand 3-season retreats handed down, generation to generation, in well-to-do families. Grand in scale, it has a rustic charm that's irresistible. Case in point, the great room with a huge stone fireplace and a canoe hanging on the wall. No, not a picture of a canoe. A whole canoe.
Why Do You Call It a Hidden Gem?
This beautiful home is listed on realtor.com by Elizabeth Banwell and brokered by Legacy Properties Sotheby's International Realty for $7,900,000. It's an interesting gem of a property, located in deep woods, next to Craig Pond with many unusual spaces, like the outdoor shower in a rocky alcove, the hot tub cut into the rocks and the swimming rock that features a number of Adirondack chairs just begging to be enjoyed.
It's definitely made for entertaining, whether you're renting out the rooms or hosting your whole family. The 5 bedrooms have multiple beds, including sleeping porches, so I'm guessing it could easily accommodate upwards of 20+ guests. If the house isn't rural enough, there's a glamping tent perched up on some rocks. Want to have a fire? Well, there's a fire pit and an outdoor fireplace, so you can take your pick.
Are You Going to Stop Talking and Just Show Us the House?
Yes, it's time for me to stop rambling and just show you this amazingly beautiful house. Check out these pictures and imagine an old-fashioned vacation with your whole family, from grandparents to new babies. You'll have room for all of them.
