A 69-year-old woman was killed when she was struck by a vehicle while walking in Standish.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says the accident happened just after noon on Monday when Eileen Garroway was walking on White Bridges Road in Standish. A Toyota Corolla, driven by 20-year-old Nicholas Breed of Topsham, was traveling west when the vehicle left the roadway and hit her in the area of Pond Road. Garroway died at the scene.

Standish Fire and Rescue aided the Sheriff's Office at the scene of the crash, which was shut down to traffic for several hours.  The accident remains under investigation.
