Standish Crash Kills 8-Year-Old, Injures 3 Others Saturday
An accident near the Standish/Windham town line claimed the life of an 8-year-old child and injured three other people Saturday morning.
The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office reports the accident happened just after 9:00 Saturday morning on Highway 35. Three vehicles were involved in the accident that killed one person. Three others were transported to area hospitals with unspecified injuries. WGME-TV reports the deceased was identified as 8-year-old Owen Oates of Standish. 75-year-old Danilo Warrick, 46-year-old Kerry Oates, and 51-year-old Kerry Oates, all of Standish, were all transported to Maine Medical Center in critical condition. 31-year-old Brian Whiton of Standish was treated and released at the scene.
Police say icy road conditions contributed to the accident.
