No one was hurt in a multi-vehicle crash on I-95 on Tuesday in Hermon that sent a tractor-trailer across the median.
Maine State Police Alerted to Chain Reaction Crash by 911 Calls
The Bangor Regional Communications Center began receiving multiple calls just before 4 pm on Tuesday afternoon of a tractor-trailer that had crossed the median.
Witnesses told dispatchers that a tractor-trailer traveling northbound near Exit 180 in Hermon had gone off the roadway, crossed the median, and entered the southbound lanes of I-95, where it struck multiple vehicles.
An investigation into the circumstances determined it was a chain-reaction crash that began with a pickup truck, and that it was actually two vehicles that crossed the median.

Officials say a pickup truck hauling a trailer failed to yield the right of way whle merging onto I-95 from Coldbrook Road in Hermon.
The trailer struck a utility truck that was in the travel lane, which forced the utility truck into a tractor-trailer in the passing lane.

The utility truck and tractor-trailer became entangled and subsequently left the roadway.
They crossed the median and entered the southbound lanes, where the utility truck became separated from the tractor-trailer.
The driver of the utility truck drove it into the median, to avoid a crash with oncoming southbound traffic.
As the two vehicles became separated, the trailer of the tractor-trailer struck two vehicles traveling southbound.
Maine State Police are Investigating a Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-95 in Hermon
Miraculously, there were no reported injuries as a result of the crash.
Traffic in the area was slowed for a couple of hours while crews worked to remove the involved vehicles.
This crash remains under investigation.
