Searchers Looking For Missing Man In Androscoggin River [UPDATED]
Searchers are looking for a man who fell from a boat in the Androscoggin River near Brunswick Friday night.
The Maine Marine Patrol said in a press release that 27-year-old Stephen Wines of Bailey Island was on the river in a small boat with his brother, 30-year-old William, also of Bailey Island. Eye witnesses reported seeing the men fall from the boat and pass by in the water and called 911 at around 8:40 p.m.
LifeFlight of Maine and the Brunswick Fire Department conducted a search while members of the Marine Patrol and the Brunswick Police Department investigated the incident. The boat has been recovered and life jackets were on board, although investigators say it doesn't appear that either man was wearing any.
William reportedly made it to shore and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released. At last report, divers were in the water as the search for Stephen continues.
We'll update this story as more details become available.
UPDATE: Searchers have temporarily suspended the search for Stephen Wines until the weather improves.
